Most people were probably too distracted by adorable Archie to notice these little details.

Unlike the other royal couples, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their first photo shoot with their son in St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle instead of in front of a hospital. St. George’s Hall is the same place the two had their wedding reception back in May of 2018. This venue likely means even more to them now since it’s where they showed their son to the world for the first time.

The new mom stepped out in a white trench dress with buttons and a tie around the waist by Grace Wales Bonner. If you thought this outfit looked kind of familiar, you’re correct. When Meghan and Harry announced their engagement, she was also wearing a white trench coat with a tie around the waist. It seems like the Duchess of Sussex has a specific style when it’s time to make a big announcement.

Baby Archie was wrapped up so tightly in Prince Harry’s arms that it was hard to get a good look at what he was wearing. He was swaddled in a G.H. Hurt & Sons Ivory White Leaves and Flowers shawl, a tradition that goes back 70 years in the royal family. The Queen reportedly wrapped Prince Charles in a blanket from the same brand when she presented him to the world in 1948. Prince Harry and Prince William were also swaddled in G.H. Hurt & Sons blankets when they left the hospital, as well as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The error on the birth announcement

Shortly after it was announced that baby Sussex’s name was Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, his web page on the royal family’s official website went up. It has since been corrected, but the second sentence originally read, “He is the first child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and is seventh in line to the throne.” Whoops! They meant to say Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

If you’ve been following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since they first started dating, you know that photographers capture a similar looking image whenever they are leaving places. They were first seen leaving with their arms around each other after announcing their engagement, then at the end of their wedding reception (they used that gorgeous shot for their Christmas card), and again after showing off baby Archie.

The touching tribute to Princess Diana

Right after Archie was born, Buckingham Palace sent out an announcement detailing some information about his birth. There were a few congratulations from family members on the announcement, and three names were included that you don’t see very often: Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer—Princess Diana’s siblings, a truly nice way to include Prince Harry’s mother on their big day.
